If the payment ever stops, nothing is deleted for thirty days and you can download all of it throughout. And if a countdown has already started because you stopped checking in, nothing is deleted at all.
Exactly how this works
What we can prove
Your words go into a sealed cryptographic envelope, signed with our merchant key. Your browser makes its own signing key, which never leaves it, and co-signs that envelope. The envelope will not open for anybody — us included — until that co-signature has been verified and recorded. Every release, every reading and every revocation is written to a hash-chained log you can inspect, where a removed or altered line is detectable.
What we will not pretend
You type your words into this page, so they are encrypted on our server rather than on your device, and the envelope’s key is stored alongside it. That means we could break our own rules and read them. Any product that tells you otherwise while also offering to deliver your words after you die is not telling you the truth — something has to be able to open the envelope when you are not there to do it.
Who is authorized
Nobody, by default. Paying does not authorize anyone. Naming someone does not authorize them — until a release they are not told the vault exists. Even you cannot read a sealed secret back. Access exists only as a single record, for one secret, with a reason and an expiry, and you can withdraw it.
